FAQ

Questions people ask before they travel.

If yours is not here, ask it. Nothing on this page is a diagnosis or medical advice — for that, send your reports and a specialist will answer in writing.

Not an emergency service. For emergency medical help in India, call 108 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Getting started

Before you send anything.

How do I start?

Send your medical reports on WhatsApp or to [email protected], with the city you are travelling from and roughly when. A registered specialist in the network reads them and answers in writing, usually within 48 hours.

What documents should I send?

Whatever you have: prescriptions, scan images or reports, discharge summaries, and a sentence about what is bothering you. Phone photographs are fine. If you have nothing on paper, we will tell you which test to get done locally first — usually cheaper than repeating it here.

Is the opinion really free?

Yes. The written opinion and the itemised estimate that follows both cost nothing and commit you to nothing. We are paid a coordination fee only if you go ahead, and it is disclosed in writing beforehand. [CONFIRM]

What if I have no reports at all?

Say so. Describe the symptoms, how long they have been there, and your age and known conditions. The specialist will tell you what to get done locally so the next step is a real opinion rather than a guess.

Money

Costs, bills and who pays whom.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the procedure, the hospital and the room category, so we quote rather than publish a list. The written estimate covers treatment, diagnostics, room, transfers and attendant stay, with exclusions listed. How estimates work →

Will the bill match the estimate?

For a planned procedure that goes as planned, yes — partners agree that the written estimate is the price. It changes when clinical findings change the treatment, and any variation must be explained and consented to before it is incurred.

How and when do I pay?

Hospital charges are paid to the hospital, against the hospital's own invoice, on the schedule set out in your estimate. [CONFIRM payment flow]

Do you take insurance?

Insurance arrangements are the hospital's and vary by partner and policy. Send your policy details with your reports and the estimate will state whether that partner can process it cashless, as reimbursement, or not at all. [CONFIRM]

Do you take commission from hospitals?

We are paid a coordination fee, disclosed in writing before you commit. It does not change the hospital's price to you, and it never buys a partner a higher position on this site. Our standard →

Travel

Getting here and staying here.

Do you help with a medical visa?

Yes. Once a partner hospital confirms the treatment plan, we arrange the hospital's invitation letter for your medical visa application and a matching letter for the attendant visa. The decision rests with the Indian mission in your country. For international patients →

Who meets me at the airport?

A named coordinator, at Biju Patnaik International Airport or Bhubaneswar railway station, who stays on your case until you fly home. Coordinators speak Odia, Hindi, English and Bengali.

Where does my attendant stay?

Accommodation for one attendant is included in every package — a bed in the room where the hospital allows it, otherwise a guest house or nearby stay. Additional family can usually be accommodated; say how many are travelling.

When is the best time of year to come?

October to February is the comfortable window — dry and mild, and easiest for someone recovering. The monsoon runs roughly June to September, and April and May are hot. Hospitals work year-round.

Treatment

Hospitals, doctors and choices.

Can I choose the hospital?

Yes. We recommend partners based on the specialty your case needs and give you the reasons, but the choice is yours. Where more than one partner can do the procedure, ask for estimates from each.

Can I get a second opinion first?

That is the usual first step, and it is free. Send your reports and a registered specialist in the relevant department answers in writing, normally within 48 hours. Specialties →

What if you don't cover my condition?

We will tell you, and where to look instead. Highly sub-specialised oncology, transplant and complex paediatric work is sometimes better done at a high-volume centre elsewhere, and saying so is part of the service.

Will my own doctor be kept informed?

With your consent, yes — we can arrange a call or written exchange between your doctor and the partner specialist, and the discharge summary and home plan are written so your own doctor can continue the care.

Afterwards

Recovery and going home.

How long should I stay after surgery?

Your surgeon decides, and it is written into the discharge advice — in practice a few days to about two weeks depending on the procedure. Recovery stays →

What follow-up do I get?

A written home plan covering medication, diet, physiotherapy and red flags, plus a follow-up teleconsultation with the treating team after you land. Further consultations can be arranged.

What if there is a complication after I fly home?

You go home with a full discharge summary, imaging and implant details, so your own doctor can act. Contact us and we will connect you to the treating team. Emergency care after you land is your local hospital's.

About us

Who you are dealing with.

Are you a hospital?

No. HealthTour Odisha is a marketplace. Treatment is provided by registered partner hospitals, clinics and wellness units across Odisha. We verify them, arrange the travel and stay with you through the admission — but we do not treat anyone.

Are you a government body?

No. HealthTour Odisha is a private marketplace. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or empanelled with the Government of Odisha, Odisha Tourism or any state health authority.

How do I complain?

Write to [email protected]. It reaches a person, not a queue, and you get a written response. Complaints against a partner are logged and count against their listing.
